![]() If you want to get away from the smokers you need to sit on one of the 4 tables right at the edge of the terrace where the breeze blows most of the smoke away from you.We have been to the Muse many times. There are plenty of other places in Paphos that do cater for non- smokers and I will be going there more often. If I had only come for the coffee it would have got 4 stars, if only for dinner, 2 stars. This is an expensive place to eat in the evening but great for a coffee and a snack in the morning to lunch. A €29 fillet steak would be expensive in London. Someone mentioned the cost of the food as well. The wine is fantastic for a €5 bottle, but hold on I just paid €25. The portions could be a 1/3 of what is offered as I noticed a lot of plates going back to the kitchen with food left. If you are allergic to smoke or do not want a mouthfull with every bite of food, don't come here in Summer!! Now to the food. We asked the waiter about sitting inside, he said in the winter the inside is set for dinner. Due to the large number of fans blowing to cool the rich and not yet famous the smoke blows in every direction. This gives a whole new meaning to the phrase chain-smoking. The young ladies wear the latest fashions to outdo their friends and also smoke as many cigarettes in an hour as they can. The evening customers are mainly rich young Cypriots who come out in their finery to impress. We had asked for a table on the raised terrace away from the main terrace and hopefully the smokers. After squeezing my 20 year old Toyota between a Porsche Carrera and an Audi R8 I realised there was a different clientelle here for dinner. What a contrast this place is from the late morning to the evening dinner service. She was so full of her appearance I wondered if her face was just a mask as she couldn't raise a smile if she had had wind!! Anyway my wife and I decided to book for dinner that evening. The waiter was friendly, which couldn't be said of the young model who brought our bill. The frappes were excellent and came with the traditional glass of water. The clientelle were expats and holiday makers. The place was quiet and the service very good. We went for a coffee with friends and sat on the terrace with lovely views and a soft breeze coming off the sea. But as for a place to eat and drink - only if you are really not very hungry, need to get rid of a lot of money from your wallet and have an hour or two to waste sitting around waiting.and waiting. It is very popular with affluent Cypriots. So in summary this has superb views and is beautifully designed. A fresh Orange Juice, Muse Salad and Ice Cream sweet came to 20 Euros. What it actually included was 3 scoops of ice cream, 1/4 Granny Smith apple sliced into thin slices and 1 strawberry cut into pieces. The Tiptop was supposed to include a fruit salad plus ice cream. What it included was 1 walnut crushed over the ice cream. The Chicago was supposed to include "nuts". We ordered a "Tiptop ice cream" and a "Chicago ice cream" for sweets. It sounds nice, doesn't it ? What it actually consisted of was a weeks supply of salad leaves for a rabbit farm, 2 quails eggs, 2 very small cherry tomatoes, 1/4 avocado sliced thinly, and a bread stick. This was supposed to consist of salad leaves, avocado, quails eggs, cheese, sweetcorn, celery, tacos, tomatoes, jalopeno peppers and dressing. And once you order anything it takes ages to arrive. Question - "What fresh fruit juices do you have ?" Answer - "Orange".). They are brief to the point of rudeness (e.g. There are plenty of waiters there, but they move so, so slowly, and you generally have to attract their attention (eventually !) for anything. I used to rave about the prompt and friendly service, the huge portions and the reasonable prices. It is very popular with the more affluent local Cypriots and is very much a place to see and be seen (so if you like people-watching you'll love this place). It has superb panaromic views over Kato Paphos and is beautifully well designed, with a viewing platform, an amazing complex, double-layer sun awning, lots of quality seating, etc. But after our latest visit (and talking with others who've been there recently) I can't be so positive any more. ![]() We've been coming to this place whenever we were in Cyprus since it opened and strongly recommending it as it had everything. ![]()
